About Faraz

Experienced GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, SAT and AP Maths tutor with more than ten years of online teaching. I mainly work with students who are capable but stuck, and help them move up to the grade they’re aiming for by finding exactly where their marks are being lost and fixing it with clear, exam-focused teaching.

This year, one of my Edexcel IGCSE students scored 189/200 (Grade 9) and is now studying IGCSE Further Pure Maths with me.

Qualifications and experience

B.E. in Industrial Electronics Engineering (IIEE) Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Teaching Maths since 2014, full-time since 2016 Students taught from the UK, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Singapore and Malaysia Creator of Maths Studio 360, an interactive maths toolkit I use in my lessons I run my own tutoring practice, IGCSE GCSE Maths

Subjects I teach

GCSE and IGCSE Maths: Edexcel, AQA, OCR, Cambridge 0580, 0607, Additional Maths 0606, Edexcel 4MA1, Further Pure 4PM1 and OxfordAQA, at both Foundation/Core and Higher/Extended level.

AS and A Level Maths and Further Maths: Cambridge 9709, Edexcel 9MA0, Edexcel IAL, AQA, OCR and MEI, covering Pure, Mechanics and Statistics.

SAT Math: the digital SAT and PSAT.

AP Maths: Precalculus, Calculus AB, Calculus BC and Statistics.

Grade 5 and 6 Maths for younger students building a strong foundation.

How I teach

Every new student starts with a short skills check. It often shows that the topic a student finds hard isn’t the real problem. Weak graphs usually come from weak algebra, and probability mistakes often come from fractions. I plan lessons around what the check shows, the exam board, the target grade and the time left before the exam.

In each lesson I explain the concept with a worked example, we solve an exam question together, and then the student tries one on their own while I watch. That is where I find out how they really think: where they hesitate, what they skip and how they set out their working.

I teach closely to the mark scheme. Students learn how to pick up method marks, how to set out “show that” questions, when to leave exact answers (especially on the newer Cambridge 0580 non-calculator papers), and how to avoid the small slips that cost grades.

Lessons are live on Zoom, and everything is written step by step using a pen tablet and whiteboard. For graphs, transformations and inequalities I use Maths Studio 360, so students can see the maths rather than imagine it. Past papers, mark schemes and custom worksheets are included at no extra cost, and parents receive regular written progress updates.

SAT and AP students

Several Ivy League and other top US universities now require SAT or ACT scores again, so a strong Math score matters. I teach both British and American curricula, which helps IGCSE and A Level students make the switch quickly, since most of the maths is familiar and the main work is on question style and timing. On the digital SAT, the first Maths module decides the difficulty of the second, so accuracy in Module 1 is where we start. For AP Calculus, my practice already follows the new exam timing that starts in May 2027.

Free 30-minute trial

The trial is a real lesson. I’ll give the student two or three questions at their level, watch how they work, and then tell you what I noticed, what I’d work on first, and whether I think I’m the right tutor for them.

Rates (per hour)

GCSE / IGCSE Maths: £ 25 IGCSE Further Pure / Additional Maths: £ 30 AS Level / Year 12: £ 30 A2 Level / Year 13: £ 35 Further Maths: £ 40 SAT Math: £ 30 AP Maths: £ 30 Grade 5 and 6 Maths: £ 20 Small groups (up to 6 students): £ 10 per student

Your rate stays fixed for the whole course. One free reschedule per month with 24 hours’ notice; other cancellations are charged. If I ever cancel at short notice, you get a full replacement lesson free.

I’m not the cheapest tutor on this platform. I keep a limited number of one-to-one students so that each one gets proper planning and attention outside lesson time. If you’re looking for structured teaching and real progress, I’d be happy to help.

To book a trial, send me the exam board, year group, current grade or score, target grade, exam date, and one or two topics the student finds difficult. I have done B.com and I.com also
